The Durham Region is committed to providing comprehensive resources and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I am a mother of two ASD children and photograph people with special needs regularly. At the time my children were first diagnosed I found it very difficult to navigate the complicated world of Autism Services Durham Region so here is my list of resources I found helpful.

One resource I found helpful in the Durham Region is the Durham Association for Family Resources and Support (DAFRS). DAFRS offers a wide range of programs and services. These programs and services empower individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. These services range from educational workshops and support groups to recreational activities and respite care. DAFRS ]goal is to enhance the quality of life for those living with developmental disabilities.

Additionally, the Durham Region Autism Services provides specialized support for individuals with ASD. Their team of professionals has services that range from diagnostic assessments to early intervention programs, and behaviour therapy services. All programs are tailored to the unique needs of each individual. They also provide resources and training for families and/or caregivers to better understand and support individuals with ASD.

Furthermore, Kerry Place is a valuable resource for individuals with developmental disabilities. Kerry Place provides advocacy, information, and support services for individuals with ASD and their families. They organize workshops, social events, and recreational programs to promote community engagement and support networks.

Additionally, a resource I utilize regularly with my children is Grandview Kids. Grandview Kids offers a large number of services.
1. Early years programs: help with learning new skills and meeting individualized goals
2. Core Clinical Services: ABA, speech pathology, occupational therapy, and mental health services
3. Entry to School Programs: readiness programs in communication, play, social interaction, functional routines, self-management and pre-academics
4. Family Services: programs to teach tools to work with children diagnosed with developmental disabilities
