Newborn Portrait Sessions
WILL MY BABY BE POSED SAFELY ?
At Lori Roberts Photography we only do the safest posing. It is of utmost importance to us that we maintain as comfortable, and safe environment for all people that enter our studio. Photography health and safety of all parties involved in our sessions are of utmost importance to Lori Roberts Photography. All of our posing is baby led and prop images are spotted by an assistant or parents.
WHAT IF MY BABY DOESN'T CO-OPERATE OR SLEEP?
This is the number one question we get with newborn sessions and why it is at the top of our photogaphy faq’s. Sleeping images are preferred but if that’s not possible we can do some awake images and we book for another day when your baby is having a better day. This is usually not the case as Lori has a number of tricks up her sleeve and creates a perfect warm environment condusive to a sleepy baby.
WHAT IF MY OTHER CHILD DOESN'T WANT TO BE NEAR THE BABY?
This isn’t a problem. We have the capabilites to edit two pictures together so in a case such as this we take an image of baby in a prop, then take baby out and take image of sibling by the prop and merge images together for the perfect image.
WHERE WILL THE NEWBORN SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Newborn portrait sessions are completed at our cozy comfortable home studio located in Oshawa, ON. Our studio has everything needed for a perfect comfortable session for babies, siblings and parents alike. Forget something? No problem! We have most ammenities needed including extra diapers, wipes, bottle warmer, changing station, toys for siblings, refreshments and snacks.
WHAT IS MY BABY HAS DIAPER RASH, BABY ACNE, OR DISCOLOURED SKIN?
This is not a problem! We edit out all normal baby skin issues that come with most newborns. The only time it is warranted to reschedule is if your baby is extremely uncomfortable due to the issues with the skin.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
We recommend bringing extra diapers and wipes, a soft rubber soother, extra formula/breast milk. We also recommend dressing in a front snap/zipper onsie if possible, to help maintain sleepiness if upon arrival your baby is asleep. If anything is forgotten we have extra diapers, wipes, diaper cream, and soothers. We also have a changing table, diaper pail, bottle warmer and more to help with comfort for everyone.
If siblings are involved in the session, bring along a favourite toy. We provide snacks for children as well as have a play area with toys to keep them busy during the session.

Family Portrait Sessions
WHAT IF THE WEATHER DOESN'T HOLD UP FOR OUR SESSION?
If the weather isn’t working for the session we rebook for a better day. There is nothing worse than a rainy, cold, or windy day to upset familes and doesn’t usually make for genuine smiles for the day of the session. Comfort is a priority for us.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
We recommend co-ordinating outfits starting with mom first. Lori is happy to help with wardrobe selection during the consultation or even sending a picture of the outfits. We do not recommend everything matching or any logos, extreme bright/neon colours and dont forget socks colour and shoes.
WHAT IF MY CHILD/CHILDREN WON'T CO-OPERATE?
Not to worry! I am well versed in working with children. We take is slow, play and make it fun. I also provide a prep guide for family sessions along with this photography faqs guide, so don’t stress! There is also not a exact time limit for the session so we take our time and surprisingly enough have never had a session that we don’t get the perfect family images you are looking for.
FOR WINTER SESSIONS DO WE HAVE TO GO WITHOUT JACKETS?
Absolutely not! These are your images and you decide the comfort of everyone. Lori does provide several breaks for warm ups with jackets if it is decided that jackets don’t work with the outfits, as well as she usually has hand warmers and blankets for warming up as well.
IF THE LOCATION CHOSEN HAS PARKING FEES ARE WE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY THOSE?
Yes. Any additional fees for location are the responsibility of the family involved in the session.
ARE FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSIONS ALWAYS HELD OUTDOORS?
Yes, family portrait sessions are always outdoor sessions with the exception of newborn portrait family images. Natural light from the sun tends to be very flattering for these sessions. Also due to the studio size and wanting to mantain our studio as germ free as possible we only hold newborn portrait sessions and milestone sessions in studio at this time.
